It's been a long and busy weekend.

I wanted to post all weekend, but I never had a chance. The Army kept us very busy!

On Friday, we went to what they call "Organizational Day". Basically everyone in our recruiting area gets together for a mandatory family day. You and your family members can do one of several sports and Rich chose golf, Annie chose the pool with her friend and I chose to ride along with Rich. I didn't golf because I haven't played since last summer and I'm... uh ... not good. Awful actually.

Because I was riding shotgun and didn't have much to do I thought I'd take pictures so you could experience it with me. I know you're excited right?... right???.... Oh... just get in the cart! :)

This is the pro shop. It's not Pebble Beach, but I thought it was pretty nice for an Army base.

We brought Brutus along for the ride. Here the boys are at the first hole.I started to get bored about 2 holes later and started looking around and noticed this sign in the cart.Geez.... I'm glad that was there or I might of had a limb taken off! Golf can be very dangerous apparently.

Brutus, are you keeping your body inside the cart?

Brutus! How in the world did you get up there??

Here's our cart. See that giant white thing on the floor of it? That's Great White, my purse :)The most excitement we had is Rich making it into the hole from across the green. Yay!!The day was finally over and nobody lost a limb, not even crazy Brutus.

The next day we went to an event for a Fallen Heroes Memorial. It starts with a poker run, which is where a lot of bikers ride together in a parade to an event with booths and a concert to raise money for the families of the soldiers that have died during battle.

The army has a booth there every year to show support and Rich was in charge of it this year.

There were a lot of other booths and interesting things, but I was touched by this.

A man started doing this at public events all over Ohio, because his son died in battle and he said that it brings him peace and keeps his son's memory alive . There is a flag for his son and for every military person from Ohio that has died in this war.Beautiful but very sad.

Say "Hi" to Sgt Compton everyone!
He's a close friend of the family and recruits with Rich.

Now this cracks me up everytime I see it....

This is G.I. Johnny LOLI'll bet it's hot in there! Yikes!!

Hey, boys! What are you doing??Lord, do they ever grow up??It's a video game in the back of the Army Hummer.

When the band started to play I kissed Rich and took off towards the antique stores ;) I found some great stuff!

Cute birdcage :)
Pretty quilts.
Lots of buttons. I'll bet Rosie is drooling ;)Do you have Prince Albert in a can?You had better let him out then! yuck yuck ;)

Beautiful chest!Okay... look at the scary Santa .... and run!I love this mantel!!I thought this retro chair and couch were cute.
Look at these plates!
Here's a close up...
This cake plate was gorgeous!

I really loved these chairs and now I wish I would have snapped them up.
I found something for Nikki ...
Well, that was fun, but I thought I had better be getting back.

Ten minutes later, the rain started and the band ran for their lives....People hid under tents...
I think I could hear bikers crying about their bikes getting wet.
So we closed up and left, but I did happen to get some pictures of other antique stores while we escaped.

Pretty town, but not as wonderful as our small town. I love this building where we live :)
Oh and do you know what I brought home???

A retro sweeper for the dog hair that mysteriously lands all over my floors.
Isn't she a beauty?! Rich thinks I'm nuts LOL
So that was our weekend. Busy, busy, busy.

Thank you for all your support in our house decision!! I never expected all the sweet comments you left for me yesterday and I am overwhelmed with gratitude. Thank you again!
Tomorrow we will find out if the people that own the William's house will be willing to take an offer contingent on our house selling. Keep those fingers crossed!! :)

Hugs and love,
rue

Looks like you had a great weekend - even if it was a full one! You saw some great stuff - love the blue bottles, the quilts and oh my, those buttons!
Keeping my fingers crossed for ya on the house.
Oh - and the bees - the bee keeper took them home with him. That is what he gets out of the deal - he gets to keep the bees. The city doesn't pay him to come get them!

Hi Rue, you had a great weekend. A lot of different things to keep you busy. I will say that I love the antique shops and the sweeper that you got. I been excited all weekend over a mop bucket with a wringer. So tell Rich we're okay. Have a good night. Deb

Good Good luck tomorrow! Last year the house I wanted so bad was contingent on us selling our house and they said NO...so then we had a second house that we made an offer on contingent to sell our house and they said NO...I got all panicky...because I did not want to sell my house if I did not have one waiting...then we finally starting looking at other situations...houses already empty and ones that had been empty for a year or more...so basically we started looking for people that were desperate to take an offer and well we found such a couple. The had transfered and the house was empty 9 months. They were paying two MOrtgages and in 9 months they had NO offers on the house...so they gave us 2 months to sell our house and WELL in 1 month we had a contract. I know you did not want hear all that but I know things will work out. I had a broken heart everytime our offers got turned down and I even still ride by the houses I wanted....hehe but I like the house I have fine enough for now and well we will move again in 4 years anyway. So I just wanted to share that and send YOU TONS OF GOOD KARMA AND WISHES THIS WEEK! You will get your dream home!!!!

Elizabeth said...

Thanks for sharing your fun and all the cool things you saw! I DO have Prince Albert in a can, but he's staying there! And my mom still uses her Lady Madison sweeper, it's great for dog hair!

Listen to your friend Heather about the Williams house. It is lovely, will be less renovations for you, and seems like a wonderful setting from what I can see. Can you imagine your children graduating from this home? Can you imagine sitting with Rich on the porch when you are old, just rocking and thinking? Then it might be the one!

Rue Honey, that was one FULL post. Thank you for all the time and effort I KNOW it took to share your weekend. I fell in love with the cobalt blue bottles and the jadeite pulls! Glad that you had some time in the antique stores.

Oh, and "Hi" Sgt. Co...something something. I meant to remember his name so that I could say hi. Shoot.

Be blessed.

Looks like a fun time. Those were some great antique stores.

I have been wanting one of those sweepers too....for the exact same reason!

Hi Rue...This sounds like the kind of weekend you needed, to "lighten the load" so to speak! Looks like a fun time.

I would love to have that mantle. I've sort of been looking around for one for the back porch...although, I like my gate!

Can't wait to hear how the Williams house talk goes.
Have a great week.

Glad you had a happy weekend. The picture of the antique stores are very inticing! I don't think there are any that look that good from the outside here, but I'm going to have to plan a small town trip soon!

What a great weekend!! I loved seeing you out and about and driving a dangerous golf cart. Don't listen to RIch that sweeper is great. I haven't seen one in many years. Very low tech, no rubber belts to break.

I'm sending lots of good Williams house Karma your way.

Looks like you had a fun, busy weekend. Thanks for taking me along. :-)

I didn't get a chance to comment on your other post and I haven't read everyone else's comments but...

Honestly, the Williams House seems like a no brainer to me. If it really has what you want and the work has already been done...Then WooHoo!

I think it also shows that the Farm House is probably still overpriced, if they're listed at the same price.

3 acres is a lot of property to maintain. It would take so much of your free time just to keep it mowed.

I hope things turn out well. Looking forward to an update!

I'll be back to follow what happens with your house hunting. I love ld house of any style so it was a treat to see the inside!

Hi Rue,
What a lot of area you covered here!
The flag photo is very touching and really pulled at my heart strings.

I loved your great white purse, just think of all the items from the antique store you could put in that thing. You'd be going green, no paper or plastic!

Good luck on the house sweets!

Rue, it was so lovely reading all about your army days out, I do not know anyone who is in the army here or in England, so it is nice to see and hear all the good work that goes with being attached to the army.
I thought you would enjoy the photo's of Roslings and Mr Darcy (Colin Firth) there is only one Mr Darcy as far as i am concerned. Colin Firth actually lived not far from us in London's east end for a time, we never saw him though and I did think It might have been nice to stalk him, but never could get up the courage haha. have a great day, Kathy.

Dear Rue, I'm just catching up on your house story. As I said several posts ago, if you were meant to have the farmhouse, it would happen. Things don't always go the way we think they will, but I'm sure He knows what He's doing. I've lived in just a small disaster zone while we had our flood damage fixed & it ain't fun!The Williams house looks absolutely divine. I'd say that you, Rich & the kids will be very happy there. What is meant to be, will be.
Love n hugs, Coll :-}

I love the entry and the windows in the dining room are just out of site..the kitchen screams your personality.. girl I can barely stand the wait to hear what the verdict will be I can't imagine what you're feeling..I'll certainly be looking forward to hearing the "good" news.. hugs to ya ~ lynne ~

Hi Rue,
Well girl you did have a busy weekend. Great photos. I can't wait to hear about what happens next with your new house. I am still without a computer so am on hubby's tonight but he is leaving tomorrow so I might have to go to the library to blog this week. I went and looked at laptops today, yikes they are so expensive, so I am not sure what we are going to do. I definitely think though it would be fun for you and I to hook up somewhere since we are both in Ohio. What do you think about that?

Hugs,
LeAnn:)
