We interterupt this tour for a short break....

I couldn't resist joining in the fun over at Rhoda's, so I'll be sharing the rest of our weekend tomorrow.

Rhoda is hosting a What's your VERY FAVORITE thrifty find party!

Rich bought this for me the other day and I just had to share it.....

I LOVE it so much!! The table and all four chairs were only $200 and I think that's quite a deal considering they were all $400 and up online. I had been looking for one forever, because I used to sit at one just like it at my grandma Bonnie's house when I was little. I listened to stories about me being so tiny when I first started walking at 9 months, that I could walk straight under it without hitting my head :)

This one has a mirrored top and I love how it reflects the sky and the tree tops.

It's a little rusty, but spray paint will take care of that ;)
Look at the detail on the chairs....
and the cute little feet they have :)
I just can't get over the cuteness and I keep looking out the window to see if it's still there LOL Make sure you head over to Rhoda's to see what the rest of the participants have found!!

In other breaking news ....

My very dear friend and pseudo sister, Miss Picket gave me this award....

Thank you Picket!! You make me feel at home too. Love ya sis :)

She also tagged me for the meme "5 songs that I am embarrassed to admit to others that I like!" See, now I think she was just trying to butter me up! LOL

Embarrassed? Me?! Naaaahhh... just get ready for an 80s flashback ;)

Here they are (click on the names to see the videos):

1) love cats-the cure (actually I'll listen to anything by them)

2) Bust A Move- Young MC

3) Say. Say. Say - Paul McCartney & Michael Jackson This was filmed in Santa Ynez on my friend Michelle's parent's ranch before it was Neverland Ranch. No, I didn't meet Michael (LOL).

4) Shoop- Salt N Pepa

5) Islands in the stream- Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers (I wanted them to get married when I was little LOL)

Believe me, when I say that I could have gone on and on.

Now here are the rules of the tag:

#1 Post a link back to the person who tagged you and post the rules on your blog.

#2 Share 5 songs you are embarrassed to admit to others that you like & tell why.

#3 Tag 7 random people at the end of your post!

I think most bloggers have already played along, but if you want to play, let me know :)

I'll take you on the rest of the tour tomorrow. Now head on over to Rhoda's!!

Love and hugs,
rue

I love the table set. My mother used to have one almost just like it. I wonder what she did with it.

Great tunes.

Well, that table and chairs are a keeper for sure, Rue! You gonna paint it, or leave it as is? I'd be stumped on that one. But I'm sure you'll figure it out. Isn't it funny how when we get something special, we have to keep checking on it, as if it will evaporate?

Totally cute table/chairs! I know what you mean about looking out to see if it is still there. The first thing I look for when I come around the corner every afternoon is to make sure my 'porch house' is still on my front porch!

Hey Rue, love the table, I see why you keep checking to see if it's still there. I've never seen a mirrored top. Now for the music, Hilarious! I kept thinking I would see you in the video, "BUSTING A MOVE". LOL!!!!!! Deb

Heya Rue,

I love your new patio set! I like it all chippy..but it would look nice painted, too. If it has any orange rust(the active kind), make sure you sand that off then rub some linseed oil on it before you paint it. That will ensure the rust doesn't return. And, I love all of those songs...now ya got me singing say, say, say....yep, that's gonna be in my head for days now.

Hey Rue,

Did ya notice, I'm right below you on the blog list? Love your table and the iron details. Your hubby just love you. :-)

PAT said...

Hi Rue...I saw a table similar to yours back in the 90's at an auction. We left before it sold and I kicked myself a very long time for not sticking around to bid. It didn't have the reflective top. I love the style...yours is fabulous.

I didn't get in on the party..been sort of in and out and hectic here the past 2 days and will be again tomorrow. I did have time to post about our visit with J's Aunt Ruth, yesterday. Bet you'll like that post. There is a story within the story of our visit, that explains where we got the iron bed in the studio/bedroom. I guess I should have used that for Rhoda's party. But like I said...we've been all over the place, lately!

Hi Rue,
I love that set. I passed up a couple of them last summer because I didn't have a spot for it. Of course, I love the rust on it. It gives it character. Are you going to repaint it white or another color? My friend and I redid one that was smaller and had two chairs for her mom and we painted it aqua and did blue and pink floral cushions on it. It turned out adorable. That Rich, he's a keeper!

Hugs,
LeAnn:)

Rue, let me first apologize for not visiting you lately....I've been a bad blog buddy!

I love your table and chairs. That is a good buy ($200) and while I love the chippy, rusty look, it could use a little painting....maybe you could "save" some of the old look.

We have an elderly lady friend who has just moved out of her "old" house and into her "new" house with her new husband! She has a set like this on her patio that's she's promised me....can't wait!

What a deal and and sooo cute, too. My aunt had a set like that, too. It does bring back happy memories of backyard picnics and birthday parties with my uncles "Tony the Pony"!

Hey, Rue ...

I love your new patio table and chairs, with its little "scrolly" trim. And I think the rusty spots just add character to it.

Rich did GOOD!

Sincerely,

Janie

Thanks for the comment about the table. I seriously thought about not painting that table, but after 45 minutes of sanding, I decided that it needed to be painted! I browsed your blog and your furnishings are beautiful! I see why you would want the table that way! Good to meet you!

Good Evening Rue,

What a great looking set, and what a great guy for buying it for you. Thanks for your visit to my blog, and for the news about the Avocado tree. I'm just so happy it's doing so well, I wouldn't bother me if it never got fruit after thinking I lost it. It's just the joy over growing it now.

I read what you told Gollum about a Ficus, hope she has better luck than I ever did.

I still can't get my 'D's DayDream to work right on here, I've changed the password several times, going by what they've told me to do. I wonder how it came up alright on Gollums Blog, there aren't any problems clicking it where she has my blog listed.

Hugs

Rue, I love the mirror top to this set! What a neat idea! We have a round set that was left at the farm house, and who knows how long the glass top has been missing! LOL! Of course, it needs sandblasting and painting, so the missing top is not it's only woes! Your set is great, and is actually the first square set I've seen! The green seats are nice too! That was sweet of Rich.

Thanks for stopping by my site earlier. Nothing better than Wrights and a toothbrush for cleaning silver. :-) Works every time and it stays clean for ever! Especially if kept is a display case.

I love your table and chairs. My late MIL (I just loved her, & my step MIL as well) has a similar table and chairs in the kitchen. Made by Birmingham Iron Works I believe. It is beautiful! Well made very similar to yours. MIL did not care for the metal modern stuff coming out in the 50's and 60's and this iron set was a lovely option. She felt wood would not hold up long term with two boys.

You know, I do not believe the glass has ever been replaced, nor has it ever been repainted.

You will enjoy that table and chairs for many many years to come and your children may as well!

Shelia said...

Hi Rue! What a precious table. I've never seen one with a mirrored top before! You know what? I was wanting a small little patio table set and really don't like the big ole chunky ones in the stores. So I looked on Craigslist and found a similar one to yours! It's much smaller and only has two chairs, but it has the glass top and all the sweet little detail work on the table and chairs. I'm in the process - well, I started two weeks ago, of sanding and painting it, but I've not finished it yet. When I do I'll post it. I just love the look of the old tables, don't you? I don't want to make you sad or anything, but is there any news on your house?
Be a sweetie and have a fantastic Friday!
Shelia ;)
