Baby, don't freak out....

Edited because Jen over at Sanctuary Arts at Home asked me to link this post to her party. For more great trash to treasure make-overs click "here". :)

Remember the dining room when we first looked at the house?? Remember it after we moved in??
Remember the built in cabinet in the corner and see that paint that's all over the glass?
I went and got it all off with a razor blade! I didn't even cut myself :)
Doesn't it look better?!
Well........ that led me to checking out the walls and if you also remember we had noticed it coming off....
Can you see it?
It turns out that it was wallpaper painted over and when I pulled a tiny corner up it just came right off!! See.....
I couldn't stop there! So, I kept going and going... rip... rip... rip! I noticed some writing, but they were just numbers....
and see that? It's where there was a leak, so I'm glad I tore off the paper, aren't you?
Someone had painted the wallpaper green at one point.....
but I kept going.... rip... rip... rip.....
and when I got to this point I realized the numbers were measurements for the wallpaper and the wallpaper was for smoothing out the walls after they had taken out the pocket doors during (I think after researching it) the late 1920s when they weren't in fashion anymore.
When I was finished there was a huge mess!
So I cleaned it up and went to work sanding and then painting the bottom of the walls....
and here is the finished project!! LOVE it :)
Don't you? .... Baby?.... I think he passed out ;)

It only took me one day to do the whole thing and all it needs now is the original light fixture put back where it belongs. Then you can put a fork in it, cuz it's done!

I love you PB! Aren't you glad you weren't home?? ;)

Hugs and love,
rue

PS I'm trying to get around a visit everyone, but as you can see I've been a little busy (lol). You'll see me soon, if you haven't already :)

I am so wanting to try that in my home....girl I started to paint the bottom half under my chair rail the other day while Bill was at work But I thought I might better wait till he gets the new TV in...he is still alittle flustered at Sears and a drastic change in his enviroment might throw him over the edge! lol lol I love how you put that pretty plate in the frame like that...all that gorgeous eyecandy to behold!!!!! I love it girl! Love you too! ♥

The amount of energy you have amazes me!

The white on the bottom really makes the room look so much bigger.

Dear Rue you are quite a girl. I love the look of your dining room now that you painted it white. Removing that paper must have been a terrible job. It was all worth it. Your glass looks beautiful too. The careless paint mess was not at all attractive.

Most of all I love all the beautiful furniture and collection of pretty dishes, etc. The whole look is very elegant.

I forgot to mention how much I like the changes in your kitchen too. My goodness you have been working so hard.

Don't worry about when you visit. Everyone knows how busy you are. I have slowed down too, because of this surgery. It is three weeks today. Time is all it takes and lots of it.

It really looks gorgeous! I love that shade of red! Do you have any idea what the name and brand of paint that is? I am wanting to put some red on my walls, but the fear of the unknown when it comes to the way different shades look in real rooms has put me off.

Fantastico!!! This really brightened up the room and made the red on top pop! I love it with your furniture in it and I think it really makes your furniture the focal point. Love it! Once in our old house Larry went to Texas for two weeks and when he came home I had ripped off all the baseboards and trim and was in the process of replacing them! We had just bought the house and it was that ugly 70s dark pretend wood. It looked so much better when we put up real wood baseboards that weren't cocoa brown! He gets nervous when he sees me with a crowbar or pry bar now!!
