It may not seem like much...
but I finished the foyer :)
I think it's one of the most important rooms in a home. It is the first impression after all ;)
So true......
One of my favorite things about this house is the staircase. Isn't it beautiful?!
My birds are finally up too......
I think they'll like it here ;)
Oh! ... and I'm finally happy with the bookshelves. They are always the hardest thing for me to decorate, but thanks to my sweet friend Heather I have them the way I want. Thank you "Fred"!

Your home is magnificent. I love the foyer, and those incredible windows and big fat woodwork are enchanting. Your birds look sensational going up the stairs.
As I pop by to see the progress, I can't help but think back to when you had fallen in love with that old home where you used to live. I thought how faithful God is, and look what He had in store for you all the while. This home suits you.
I am so happy for you Rue. What an exciting chapter with a brand new page and tons of promise.
As always your place is a joyful visit.

Oh, Sweet Rue! How beautiful your foyer is! That window is amazing! You know, you just have a natural gift of decorating. Your things look as if they've always been in this house! I must tell you something, when we redid our entry I had remembered seeing someone's bird pictures going up the wall by the staricase. I was committed to doing the same thing and did just that. Now, I remember the'someone' was You! I hope you don't mind that I took your idea and hung my birdies up the wall by my staircase.
I'm hooked now and want to see more!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

I

I love how you put a chair in there, and such a wonderful chair! I wouldn't have thought to angle the rug that way either but I really like it! You're doing great and I'm sure you must be exhausted.
Okay! How incredible that you have a FOYER! AND a beautiful staircase AND awesome built in bookshelves!!!!
It all looks soooo pretty. Have fun! What an awesome blessing a beautiful home is!!

Well Rue...we are just "oh so proud!" We admire those that can take their own homes and whip them into shape! The bird prints are perfect there....just like they were ment to be!
At this point in the move....we'd still look like the living room photos below!!
LOL!
Happy week ahead!
I'm glad to see you enjoying your new home. I know how much you wanted one with character and this one really does have it. And, your decorating makes it special.
Rue, the house looks wonderful. I especially love the bird pictures-they look great there! I love that staircase also-it is phenomenal!! I'm glad you are getting all "nested" and settled in. Good Luck to you and your family!!
Lovely stairs! I have a huge foyer but the stairs are not as grand as yours:)
I love that lattice window in the foyer! It is gorgeous! Your house already looks so warm and welcoming.
Great job....I agree...the entry hall needs to be done as one of the first rooms in a move. It's the first area you see and it's what sets the stage for the rest of the house. Love you little framed picture re-do!
Just love the staircase as well, dreamy and your tablescape is perfect... i need help in that area (want to lend me a hand) hee hee
LuLu
Love the birds...love the foyer. That stair railing is so chunky and yummy....and that little window with the grid...PERFECT!
It's so pretty and I love your stairway too!
Hugs,
Cathie
Rue,
Everything you have done is just perfect. The foyer really speaks to me; that little Eastlake chair is just the perfect touch.
I am like you when I move...can't relax until everything is put away and the house "feels" like me.
Janet
SWOON. I.Love.Your.Staircase!!!!!
That window in your entry kills me. Just KILLS me. It's so charming!! And then the staircase is fabulous, too. I just love your new house and what you're doing with it--everything is already looking beautiful!
Hi Rue
Your home is looking wonderful. I am amazed at how much you've accomplished already!!
Hugs, Rhondi
Looks fantastic! I love that old chair.
Your bird prints remind me of a set of six that I scored at a yard sale this fall for $12. I intended to give them to a friend but I don't think she's into them (or so I am guessing by her lack of response for the last four months. ;-) I should totally do a blog post on them...They are *very* similar to the ones on your landing
Hi Rue, I have not been by in forever. I just stopped in to say hello. Your house is gorgeous. I love this entry way. I need to keep coming back to get great ideas from you. I love the way you decorate. Hugs, Kathi
You have the gift for vignettes, and vision for putting things together into interesting 'collections' of articles related by subject, color, theme and so on. Everything looks really beautiful, and I'm even enjoying your music selections. Terrific site. Can't wait to see your recipes!
It's autumn in the US midwest. The trees and burning bushes have turned and we've had a frost, so now it's Indian Summer. Right now there's a bit of sun but the morning's temp was quite brisk and probably rain is coming this afternoon. Perfect time for spiced cider or apple juice, a fire, and maybe molasses cookies. Mmmmmm.
