Well lookie here...... You're wondering why I'm only showing the top half of the room, aren't you? Well, since the dogs need a bench to sleep on (because they think they're human and won't sleep on the floor of course! LOL) I showed Rich this picture......
and he's going to build a wider version of it. It won't be decorated this fancy of course, but with some dog proof cushions to lay on, it'll be perfect for them :)

We have a lot of people coming to our door to sell things and I needed a cute sign to tell them sweetly that we're not buying, so I bought a piece of decorative wood and spray painted it.
Well, now I'm off to spend time with my handy hubby and darling daughter. I hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend :)
hugs and love,
rue
**Edited to add that the microwave is vented through to the back. No worries everyone! :)

Wow, he IS a handy hubby....LOVE those shelves!! And i also LOVE that inspiration pic with the seats...aww, how sweet that the dogs will have their space!
Talk to you later-
Suzanne
The pantry is lookin' good! Now I can't wait to see the cute doggy benches. Hope you are having a nice weekend. I'm off to the new & used record shop to pour over the recent additions to the weekly bin. ~ Robyn
The shelves look great, Rue...What a beautiful job!! I love all the wonderful touches you're adding...the chalk board is so clever!
A word of caution, though, about your microwave. If your microwave isn't vented through the front, enclosing it could short it out.(Ask me how I know this! :D) I had questioned the builder on this when he installed our microwave into a built in cabinet, finishing it off with molding...he assured me it would be just fine. He ended up buying TWO microwaves!
Lynda took my idea on the microwave. We had that experience not too long ago at work. Ours wasn't vented and didn't last too long.
I love the shelves. Can't wait to see the new benches!! The sign is great. I think you could sell those with nifty little sayings!!!!
No worries! It's vented through to the back, but carefully hidden behind the cookbook ;)
I love all your new shelves*! Your hubby is a keeper*!!! Ya'll make a great team. Oh, and I LOVE your cute *No Soliciting* sign*! Good idea. _Ashley ~
All lookin good!
I too got the bug and painted a feature wall in my daughters room now just to do her chest of drawers...Ugh!
That I hate....Furniture and oil based paints!
It will be worth it though.
Anyhooo...You are powering along.
Why did'nt you paint the shelves before putting them up??...
Looks great Rue! You've made me wonder if I might have room for some shelves like that in my laundry room. I love the bench for the dogs. Just today I was thinking that no one could ever understand the true nature of life with dogs on my blog. There's always one at your feet or snoring in the same room. :)
Love the little painted plaid border on your sign. How clever!! I love working on a house - hope you are having fun, too. Sally
You better hang on to that husband...he is wonderful!
They look fantastic!
I have to mention something about your menu board...We had stuffed shells and chicken pot pit this week on our menu board too! Must be the season for comfort food!
Have a great weekend!
Your pantry is looking great! You home has got to feel how much you love it!
How lucky are you to be able to show a picture to your Rich and let him take it from there! Now that's teamwork of the best kind. Your paint job looks perfect. Everything is falling into place.
Your shelves look great Rue! I can't wait to see the room with the dog bed benches!!
Hugs,
Penny
Wow, you guys are busy! Love it all and I can't wait to see the bench!
BTW, I've opened an Etsy shop! Come over to my blog for the link. Lots of vintage transferware!
Hey Rue the shelves look great! You guys work faster than we do, I just finished the floor this morning and still have all the painting to do, as soon as I choose a color! Yes I have changed my mind more than once but that is my perogative right! ;). I need some of those toaster stroodles too, LOL!!
Hi Rue,
I love the shelves!
So beautiful and functional.
The sign is just tooo cute!
We need one...seriously. You should make them and sell them on Etsy.
I'll be your first customer.
Alex is outside staining the deck. Our garage door opener broke yesterday so now he has to install a new one tonight. Whew! Poor hubby...:)
Have a wonderful weekend my friend.
~Melissa :)
What fabulous projects! I love the way your shelves look and the built in for the microwave. I also love the inspiration photo for benches. Can't wait to see how your husband masters that one. It's so nice to have a man around the house.
I love the way you and your special hubby roll. He's so amazingly talented and you do your "thang" with the finishing touches. I'm loving those shelves, nicely done!
Oh how I adore those painted recipes on your cabinets. That's totally thinking outside the box.
I'll be back to check in on your other amazing projects.
Blessings - Debbie
The shelves look great and I love that he made a cubby for the microwave.
LOVE that nook with the benches; will be jealous of the dogs!
Nice!! love your shelves.. I wish I had a pantry!!! (I don't :-( )
The sign was a good idea too.. very cute!
We don't have alot of door selling here, so it wouldn't be a problem....
Good luck with that floor.. looks like you have to soak it somehow to get it out without hurting the floor..
Happy easter!
Monica

Have a great weekend.

It looks fantastic! Everything you do always looks so beautiful X
Trust you to make even a pantry charming! I love your taste in things!
You two have sure been busy lately! You are so fortunate to have a man that will fix things up for you like that! The shelves look great! So does everything else...your sign, the pantry doors (awesome idea!), and that gorgeous chair!
I recently saw two chairs at Goodwill. They had needlepoint seats and were only $5 each. Oh, I was so tempted! But I really have absolutely not place to put them. They would have been great painted! I still kind of regret not snatching them up.
Kady
You have such a handy man there! It seems like he can fix or build anything. We have to hire out for everything unless I can tackle it myself! He's a keeper that hubby of yours!
Everything is looking fantastic...it's really become a home hasn't it!?!
Isn't your hubby so sweet to put up those beautiful shelves for you? What a guy!
Your kitchen is darling! I love watching your house coming together. It's lovely!

Does hubby rent out?? Hey, Philly ain't that far from Ohio!! LOL. What a handy guy! I need one!
Rue, I just love the way you guys personalize your space. It is looking both unique and homey. Very inspiring...now I need to get going on some projects.
♥, Susan
Oh the shelves look fantastic.
I currently have 3 different projects started, so its not wierd to me.
Did you paint the cupboard doors where the menu's are? I am going to go check the rest of your blog. Maybe my answer is there.
Rue- What a nice hubby to do all that for you after a full day of work! That man of yours is one in a million! They need to learn how to clone him. I just love all of the cute projects around your house.
~Luv~Betty G~
Wow! Looks wonderful :) so many projects at once....how do you keep it all together?
Your new digs are coming along very nicely! I love those shelves. And your cute clear jars. Can't have enough clear jars for stuff. My dogs sleep with me. I'm a pushover.
Brenda
I just loved this idea Rue! Y'all are doing a great job in your kitchen.

Rue, I love it all!! Your hubby is one creative man-hang on to him for sure!! I love those shelves. I miss my wooden shelves in my pantry. The builder put those plastic coated wire ones in there. If we didn't have the house on the market I would have wood in there for sure. Keep up all the wonderful and great work!
If you ever make it down to Southwestern Ohio, have Rich stop by. I have a list a mile long he can start on!
Love how the shelves turned out! I can't wait to see the bench.
What a great hubby!
What a handy guy!! and there's nothing better then a shelf filled with a good cookbook collection...
Rue, it all just looks wonderful! I'm so happy for you! :-) Rich did a great job on those shelves, and I can't wait to see the doggy bench! Love the cute sign and the doors for the pantry. Looking good, girlfriend! :-)
XO,
Sheila :-)
Rue, I love those shelves, they are amazing and it is so nice to have things right there..especially cook books..kudos to your hubby! I can't wait to see the bench, your inspiration photos are amazing as well! I seem to work better when I have my hands in several projects at once too!
What a handy fellow to have around! Love the shelves and can't wait to see the doggy benches!
Thanks for sharing!
Hugs,
Tina
Hi Rue
The shelves look just perfect! I can't believe the prior owners didn't think of doing that. I have a large cook book collection so I'd use all three shevles for them alone, but I'd love having them all in one place. The bench will be great to have too --I'd add a bottom and a hinged top for storage of dog food and leashes, etc. You are so lucky that Rich is handy, as well as being a hunk ;-)
Hugs, Pat
What a sweet husband...even after work! The shelves look great and I love the schoolhouse light is awesome!!!
Rue, your home has such a warm and loving look and feel to it! You've done a great job of making your house a family home and the pantry is coming along VERY well! Love what you and hubby have done. I would like to make a 'wee' suggestion. I'd like to see benches with built-in storage with hinged/lift-up top for extra supplies and out-of-season items.
:-) - SherylCanadianGirl
My hubby is the same way. I say we are BLESSED. So many hubbies just don't do work like that (or at least for their wives or home). Yikes!
Wendy
LOVE it all! The shelves are fantastic! Love the recipes on the doors and the future bench!! Too cute!
I also like how you redid the chair!! Great job Barney! You guys have been super busy!!!
Love ya
Fred:)
Your pantry is dreamy. It will be perfect once the bench is done too! I love your little "no soliciting" plaque. I've been thinking of doing one too, but I have yet to see how many solicitors we get in the spring/summer. I will keep your project in mind for inspiration!
You definitely married a good one!! Your shelves look terrific!!!
I also like the new shelf above your stove! Very cute!
Everything is coming together so nicely. It must be nice to be married to a tool man! Mine is a computer nerd, but knows little of tools. Your home is beautiful!
The pantry is SO cute, the bench is going to look great! I wish I had a whole pantry "room"!!
I want to make a no soliciting sign too... let me know if it works, lol!
