Not so sweet? Yep. We had a back up in the kitchen sink that actually turned out to be a good thing when the plumber discovered a pipe that was about to burst. It was ugly…
see what I mean?
Anyway, that was last weekend’s drama. Aside from that my laptop has been shutting down on me every 30 minutes, so it’s going to have to go to the doctor. I haven’t had a chance to visit too many of you because of it and I apologize. Hopefully I can get it taken care of soon. I better get this post finished before it does it again, huh? ;)
The sweet surprise? Well that came in the form of gift. I had mentioned to ‘M’ of Tales from an OC cottage that I didn’t have a crown (long story) and she asked for my address. Then, after I returned from Arizona, I received a package. When opening it up, the first thing that I found was this cuteness….
and the next thing I found was this darling frame with a sweet title for me….
and the next was this sweetly wrapped gift….
that held this beautiful hanky….
and at the bottom of the package was my very beautiful crown….
and that’s when I got all blubbery. Thank you sweet ‘M’ I am overwhelmed by your thoughtfulness and generosity. Actually, I am always amazed by Blogland and all of my sweet friends that I’ve met, but when out of the blue one of you send me something for no reason at all, it throws me for a loop. It’s amazing to me, completely amazing, especially since I had considered calling it a day and ending the blog. Yep, that’s right. I had actually thought about giving this up, because I lost track of why I started it in the first place.
I began to feel a lot of the pressure of trying to keep up and come up with something worthy of the time that you take to come over here. So, when I opened this package from a friend, that was once a complete stranger to me, but is now a dear friend for over a year, it made me think about the fact that without this blog all of us would have never ‘met’ and that my sweet friends would be a tragedy. M’s gift was a reminder of the gift of all your friendships that mean so much to me and I have decided to keep going. I may not be able to get around Blogland as much as I would like, but I will keep going in hopes that you will keep coming by to read about this life that I love here in Mayberry Jr.
hugs and love,
rue

Hi Rue, I'm so glad you decided not to stop the blog. Your posts are always fun and I'm sure every reader that comes over thinks the same. Just remember, it isn't about perfection, it's just about being YOU.
I LOVE your gifts, that was so sweet and thoughtful of her. I can't wait to see what you do with your new treasures, I'm sure you'll find a special place for them. Have a great week, hope the computer situation gets worked out, along with the pipes. yikes!
~Michelle
What a wonderful gift! I would get all blubbery too if I was you. So sweet. Hope you got the sink fixed.
Rue, those are such sweet gifts!! You should definitely not shut your blog down...I have met many good friends thru blogging and even talk to one just about every day now!!
You have an awesome blog and I am able to enjoy an old home vicariously thru you.
Elise
There is nothing sweeter than to be reminded that someone cares and you are thought of.
Good morning! You know how much I have enjoyed your blog ~ YOU are responsible for my desire to begin one! I don't know if I ever told you that.
Though I've taken the summer off ~ and it was the right choice for me ~ I will always feel close to the bloggers I follow and those who read my words .... AND I will be back!
Since I began using Mozilla Firefox as my internet browser, no more shutting down every 30 minutes! I also use AVG virus protection as well as Spybot. I shut my computer down every evening now. I had so many bugs from tracking programs, etc. I couldn't believe it.
What an awesome gift, Rue! I, too, am glad you decided to keep your blog going. Who needs a REASON??? "Talk" soon!
What beautiful presents, Rue! M is so sweet indeed! I hope you never think of leavig again. We will miss you dearly....Christine
How very, very thoughtful of her! The way I look at it-everything happens for a reason! Her gift came when you needed it most.
I was incredibly intimidated to start my blog. I thought no one would find my "little" life interesting. I really didn't want people to be thinking, "Who does she think she is-trying to hedge her way into our circle". But I was wrong. Way wrong!
A wonderful group of people that have welcomed me and have left the most heart-filled comments on my posts!
Go read my post "Because it's the Little things that Count" that I posted a few days ago. I try to always remember this. And blogging is like that. It is just a little thing in all our lives that really connects us in more ways than we imagine. Connects us to each other and connects us to our OWN lives by helping us realize that friends are one of the most important things in life. Wherever they come from!
Blessings, Misha
Hi Rue,
I couldn't agree with you more! It's all in fun and when then when we "meet" new blogger friends it's even better. What a blessing Blogland is.
~Gorgeous gifts! She's so generous. I'll have to check out her blog.
Have a wonderful day.
~Melissa :)
Oops! Apparently I can't type today...:)
WE should all have such a beautiful crown and I know you will find a special place for it. It IS difficult to always come up with input for the blog. Sometimes I just take a day, or a week-end off. You don't need a reason nor to explain. Just say you will be gone and don't worry about it. I've said this to others, and some take offense, but we all need to remember that these are JUST BLOGS!! Just words and photos on a pretend page on the internet. Yes, JUST BLOGS!
We love reading your blog, Rue, but when it becomes a nuisance to you or a pressure to you then take a break... don't go away... just take a break, take time to breathe deep, clear you head and then come back refreshed.
Welcome back!
Di

Hi Rue! Oh, what a sweet thoughtful gift you've received! Oh, Dear One! I am too, so thankful you've decided to keep blogging! Blogland would not be the same without you! You always have very worthy and interesting posts! That's why we always keep coming back! Besides, WE LOVE YOU! :)
You are the sweetie,
Shelia ;)
You are so lucky that the sink backup and to have found that problem.
How sweet to recieve such a wonderful gift.
I enjoy reading your blog and happy to hear that you want to continue.
Willow
You were thinking of stopping your blog????? What??? Where have I been? Seriously Rue, trust me I've done it and you will end up coming back. I mean look at me, I quit mine so many times that people got tired of it and I lost many blog friends because of it. Hang in there. I've learned, just take a break if you need it but don't stop because we have all made such sweet friends. By the way, would you like to get together this summer? I will drive your way if you like.
Hugs,
LeAnn:)
Beautiful gift, Rue!
Keep blogging. I know some of my posts may be huh? moments, but I just keep on blogging away. It is certainly a wonderful hobby and who knew it would be such a great way to meet so many fabulous folks!
I would just like to thank "M" for making Rue realize that she is an important person...even in blogland!
I don't have a blog myself...my life really is no big deal, my PC is old (like me) and we just aren't up to the task, but I enjoy reading so many of the blogs each day. I am definitely a devoted lurker/stalker? RUE...yours is one of my favorites, and I, like so many others, have followed you from Mayberry to Mayberry, Jr. However, like a previous poster said, - it is YOUR blog..blog when you want, and take the "Me Time" you and your family need!
One other thing I would like to mention is that I so love your music. I sometimes will just shrink your blog down while I read my emails and listen..such a diverse selection..thanks for that!

Have a wonderful week!
I love reading your blog Rue and I'm glad you're here! It's one of the blogs that has kept me in touch with the American everyday life while we've been living here in Sicily these past few months!!!
Thank you and I appreciate you :)
Glad you found the smaller problem before a bigger one erupted. (Yuck)
Have a beautiful week :)
How sweet!
What sweet and thoughtful gifts! I'm glad you decided to continue your blog bz I feel the same way. I've made many good friends that I'll probably never meet but who still are so dear to me. We all get too busy from time to time and it's hard to keep up so I understand that. I don't get around like I used to either due to life getting in the way but I do what I can when I can and try not to worry about the rest of the time. I think in life I'll always want to do more than I can feasibly do anyway so I just have to accept that, LOL! Take care dear friend and I'm glad the pipe didn't burst! Cindy
WB, Rue. We miised you! You are right about Blogland, it's a wonderful place for fun and friends. I'm so glad I found it.

XO
I've missed you soooo much!!!
(((((((Rue)))))))
What a precious gift you received! That is just awesome - I know you will treasure it too.
AND we treasure YOU.
Love,
Kim
The wonderful 'no rhyme or reason' thoughtfulness of others is what makes great friendships evolve. I would not have started my blog if not prodded & am so grateful for the wonderful blessings that have been bestowed upon me since then. I have found courage & support to do things I should have done long before, to take a few steps forward that I may never have taken ... surrounded by the continuous growth of friends that give me the strength to forge on.
You are one of the reasons, Rue, that makes this fellowship of ladies so wonderful & rewarding. Thank you for this.
Your gifts are absolutely wonderful ... enjoy. TTFN ~Marydon
Oh Rue! I am so sorry about your pipe and laptop!! How annoying. It never ends, does it? We are in the process of having wood floors installed throughout our house. Well, the persone that lived here first GLUED carpet down in the kitchen/dining room. We found out today, it will be an extra $1200 to lay the right substance down to fix the issue! I am so upset. The things we do for our homes, lol!
What a sweet gift from The OC Cottage!!!! How perfect for you! You deserve it sweetie :)
Love ya,
Amy
Girl, You BETTER keep blogging! Lord knows my blogs are just a hot mess sometimes! I think I have days where I ramble on and on....my poor readers! They are so kind!
Love the crown!! Wear it proudly!

Hi Rue! We've missed your posts, but understand that life happens and we all need a little break. So glad you've decided to keep posting! It's a little cheer in my day that I really appreciate lately! That's what I love about blogland! It is so reciprocal in encouragement and the women who blog are so bright and interesting. I know if I keep at it long enough, there will be a bad apple show up who will try to ruin the fun--but I hope I will be ready to handle it as well as you have! Hugs & blessings, Vicki
Hi Rue!
I actually had a pipe with a big rusty hole under my kitchen sink awhile ago. Luckily I found it when I reached under the sink to get a garbage bag and found they were all wet. I got a flashlight to see why and found the leak before it made a real mess.
I hope you never give up your sweet blog! I've know you since th beginning and would miss you so much. I may not be able to visit every day but I always enjoy your posts when I do. You are like family to me now!
Glad you got that prett crown and other surprises and changed your mind!
HUgs, Pat
Rue...you are such a lucky girl to have been given all of those wonderful treasures!!! I think you totally deserve the crown...too cute!!!
I am so sorry about the mess under your sink...I just hate little disasters like that!!! Messy and inconvenient!!! YUCK!!!
I have been MIA as well...I miss everyone when I am gone!!!
Enjoy!!!
XOXO
Cathy
Hi Rue,
Your gifts are certainly pretty and well-deserved... I always enjoy my visits.
So sorry about your plumbing and computer problems..
Have a wonderful week,
Michelle
I'm so glad you didn't decide to stop blogging.....after all you were one of the people who got me to actually try it (now if that isn't pouring on some guilt..lol)Post when you can, I don't think anyone wants to to feel like it is a job.... then all the fun is gone.
Wear your crown proudly!!!.... Jo
Rue, I hope you get your computer back up and running soon. That is a sweet gift. There are some great people out here in blogland.
i have been bad and have not been over in a while..
bad bad girl.
glad to hear you are good but dang that sink!
xo
Hey, it's all good. No pressure in blogging except what we put on ourselves. Take your time and enjoy your posts as much as we do.
Dawn
rue, count me another blogger who is so very glad that you've decided to keep your blog going. It is important to go back to our "why" in many areas of our lives.....and see if the why is the same, and should we change. Your present is fitting and I'm glad you now have a crown.
Suzanne
That was a wonderful box of goodies - everything is so clever and just for you. Don't you just hate plumbing stuff - so expensive and messy? Have a great week. Sally
I've been slacking on my blog lately. So glad you are still here! What would we do without you!?
Wear your crown proudly! You deserve it!
Hugs,
Kathi
I'm with Pat Rue, glad you decided to stay, we may not get to visit each and every post but love it when we do and love it too when you pop into see us. What a beautiful gift you received, happy Monday, glad you got your sink fixed and hope the puter is better soon, Kathy.
Hi Rue,
I am glad that you are still going to keep blogging.
You and your blog are special and it is a treat to call by.
I love all your gifts, the crown and momogrammed hanky, and photoframe.
Can we call you Princess Rue? now that you have a crown!
Hugs
Carolyn
What a wondermous gift! I have had so much encouragement from blogging. I'm thinking it's rather important. Hope you stick around! I love to read you. C
Just the thought of you abandoning your wonderful blog has ME blubbering! Especially since you haven't shown us everything you're going to do to that wonderful home of yours. I have those feelings all of the time, and I just wish there was a way to do it without it being so time consuming! I love visiting blogs, but sometimes it just takes soooo long. What a nice box of gifts you received. Yep! That's enough to let you know that you can't quit blogging. Glad you discovered the sink leak before it was too late. laurie
How amazingly kind!!
Oh the joys of home ownership! Glad it didn't turn out worse.
What a fantastic gift! I'm so glad that it reminded you why you are here in blogland. I know you're not fishing for compliments, but I would miss you and your blog so much if you stopped blogging. Your blog is just so heartfelt and real. Your heartaches and your joys come through and make us feel like mourning or rejoicing right along with you. I think that we women here in blogland really identify with you. Plus we all can't wait to see everything you do with your new home! I'm glad you're staying.
Kady
Those are truly some wonderful gifts, and I'm so glad that you're going to continue, Rue! I cannot imagine Blogland without you! It would not be the same!!!
Love to you...
XO,
Sheila :-)
rue-
i have been so blessed to have met you. you have helped me more than you will ever know. everyone needs a break every now and then to think, relax and just be. we all understand that you need the same. I enjoy every post you write, because it's from your heart, that's what keeps me (us) coming back to visit you.life happens and we understand daily posting is sometimes not possible. just keep being you. the Rue we love:)
blessings,
aimee
I am so glad you decided not to quit blogging...I love coming here and visiting and seeing what's new in Mayberry!!!
Love your gifts...blog buddies are the absolute best and can bring you out of any kind of slump!
Big hugz,
Michele
What a wonderful present and from a wonderful friend!
The reason I blog is not because of the amazing friends I have met or great ideas I get. I blog so when my kids are bigger, they can go and look at any date and see what they were doing at a young age. This for me is so much better than scrapbooks and or baby books. Although the friendship has been a major perk ;)
Oh Rue! How blessed you are! I'm so happy you received such beautiful treasures. See, your blog touches so many...in so many ways...on so many levels. I'm glad (okay simply overjoyed!) that you've decided to keep blogging.
What a sweet gift! I'm glad your plumbing issues are fixed. It wouldn't have been fun to have a burst pipe!
I hope your 'puter and plumbing problems are both better soon! (been there, done that on both accounts!)
I guess you see there are a lot of people who would miss you if you stopped blogging. Glad to see you have decided to stay around!
Hugs,
Tina
The sweet trumps the not so sweet any day of the week.
As far as blogging... it begins for a variety of reasons but it continues because we share and we end up better people for it I think.
Stay around. You're needed.
So glad you're going to keep blogging! Yup, a p.j. party - wish you could join us! Dawn
Morning Rue~
I just love your new treasures....what sweet & thoughtful gifts & that hanky (my initial, too) be still my heart...lol.
I'm so glad you decided to stay....everyday when I check my e-mail/comments I feel like I'm reading a letter from an old friend. The friendships here have been blessing as you have been blessing to ALL of us.
Big hugs~ J
no girl, don't give up your blog.....you are in my top five blogs....and so love coming here, especially when we stroll down a street in mayberry or you take us somewhere and just show us what is going on in another part of the world from us!!!! keep it up girl, you are a treasure!!!!!! jennie in tn <><
Hi, Ruzzer,
Just stopped in to say hello. This world of blogging is so hugh that sometimes I get lost.
Hope things are good for you...and hope you got the sink problems all fixed.
xo bj
What sweet and lovely gifts! Blog friends are just wonderful. I got a package in the mail from one today that surprised me so much--it was something for my daughter Lily, just out of the blue. The thoughtfulness and generosity of our readers is amazing. Blog friendship is what makes all the hard work worthwhile! :-)
Rue,
I tried to click on your email thingy, but it wouldn't let me??
I'm sure the problem is on my side.
Anyway, I had a question for you.
When you were moving earlier this year, did you use PODS?
If that's correct, did you like that service? Any problems with them, would you use them again??
I thought it was your blog that I saw the picture of the container, but I could be wrong.
Wouldn't be the first time! lol
:0)
Gayle
Hi Rue,
Ugh to the plumbing problems! I hope that never happens again! I am another who is so glad you didn't leave blogging. I myself have thought of saying goodbye a few times and then I get just the sweetest comment or message or surprise and I am hooked once again. I guess this is still our season to blog!
Have a wonderful evening, hugs, Linda
What great stuff Rue!
OMGoodness! Isn't blogland just wonderful! I feel so fortunate to have found such wonderful bloggy friends here and I know you know what I mean (Despite the meany anonymous commenter you had). Congrats on your lovely gifts! I love her blog and visit it almost daily. All those gifts are lovely and very fitting for the "Queen of Mayberry"! LOL! So very sweet.
Hope the plumbing problems get sorted out soon!
What thoughtful presents!
Wouldn't life be so much easier if things like bursting pipes didn't, like in the soaps? Although I suppose lovers' quarrels and treachery are worse! Alas!
At least we can watch Lucky deal with such things instead of us!
Hi Rue!
Thanks for the sweet comment about the kitchen. It's definitely been a slow, step at a time process. Almost there though! We still have to finish the island, replace the sink and faucet and take up the vinyl floor. Phew, maybe there is a lot to do yet! lol
I just bought a bunch of supplies to do a pantry redo. Hoping to start that today! I hope you are having a good day!
~Michelle
Hey Rue-It is crazy hard to stay caught up during the summertime! If I have to hang in there you do too!!! I love coming to visit at your place, and by the gifts you received, looks like other do too. Love that crown; it's crownaliscious! Hope you have a great week, sorry about the pipes..ewwwwwwwwww.
~Misti
Oh Rue, sorry you have a mess with the plumbing, and that your laptob is giving you fits!
My pc is too, which is why I'm still so behind with blogging. My internet has been off since last night and still keep dropping off.
I love M's blog, and her creativeness. What darling gifts she sent! I LOVE them! Queen of Mayberry you are girlfriend! Wear that crown proud; you know we all expect a pic of you in it!
I know exactly what you mean about thinking of quiting, me too, me too...
But I would miss my friends. Let's not try and keep up with the Jones'. Let's just do what we can and not stress over it, K?
Love and hugs,
Nikki
Rue,
Sorry about your plumbing problem but that's part of the joy of older houses.
What a sweet blogger to send you all those great gifts. I don't think growing up I ever thought of myself as a princess like little girls do now. But I must say as I age I do think of myself as the Queen of Bird Nest Cottage.
Hope you computer gets well soon!
Hugs,
Gretchen
Rue you cannot stop blogging!
You were the one who pretty much got me addicted to it!
Good that you can see the bright side of the pipe....
