Iraq: group linked to Al-Qaeda controls Fallujah

There's a global balance of clashes, but Iraqi officials count at least 103 killed until Friday, 32 of whom civilians.

The Iraqi army announced have killed 55 insurgents Saturday in Fallujah and in the city of Ramadi. The fighting began on Monday, after the dismantling of a field of anti-government demonstrators in Anbar province, a Sunni stronghold hostile to Shiite Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki.

The Group Islamic State in Iraq and in the Levant, Al-Qaeda's branch in the country, claimed the main control Highway link between Fallujah and the capital.

The Sunni insurgency has progressively expanded in desert province which borders Syria.
