Syria: West divided opposition decisions

The French Foreign Minister held that the decisions of political exiles and rebels constitute "a major step forward towards the possibility of a political solution", as it had already done John Kerry, the US Secretary of State.

On the other hand, the coalition in exile formed a provisional Government to manage the areas taken by rebels, something that the United States consider that could "undermine" the Geneva negotiations.

Political opposition, backed by the West, and rebels are also agree on the requirement that President Bashar al-Assad "does not have any role in the transitional phase and the future of Syria", something that the Damascus regime, supported by Moscow, has always rejected.

However, the propaganda of Damascus released images of explosions and fighting reportedly occurred in Barzeh, near the capital. According to State television, the strong detonations were caused by rebels who fled the area following an offensive by troops of the regime.
