Ten days after it started, the huge forest fire that raging in Northern California is one of the most extensive in the history of the u.s. State.

The flames have devastated more than 60 thousand hectares, an area equivalent to the city of Chicago.

The fire threatens the Natural Park of Yosemite, as well as the supplies of electricity and water of San Francisco.

The Governor of California, Edmund Brown Jr., says that one of the concerns is that "as the months passed and the arrival of the coming winter, with rains and possible floods, ash and debris contaminate the water. The firefighters are doing everything possible to avoid it ".

More than 3600 fire department participating in fighting the flames, while the aerial focus now in an attempt to halt the advance of the fire to the West. According to the u.s. forest service, only 15 percent of the fire is under control.

The fire is currently a few kilometres from the main water reservoir in San Francisco.
