Wildfires in Portugal have killed 5 firefighters this year

A firefighter was killed today in fighting the flames in, Tondela, raising to five the fatalities in fighting forest fires recorded this year throughout the country.

The most worrying fire occurs in the Serra do Caramulo, in the municipality of Tondela, tilling multipronged and mobilizes 665 firefighters.

Nearly 2,000 the largest 14 fires fought operating assets to 18:00 on Thursday.

The President of the Republic addressed "a word of thanks" to the firemen, civil protection officers and populations by "remarkable performance" in-fighting, underlining that the death of firefighters cannot turn into reality.
