Member of the European police in Kosovo shot dead

A member of the European police in Kosovo was shot, this Thursday. The policeman died when, early in the morning, an unknown group opened fire on two EULEX vehicles carrying six members of the European mission.

The incident, which occurred in Zvecan in northern Kosovo, near the border with Serbia, was not claimed. The Euleux, spokesman Blerim Krasniqi, explains that the mission is not idly by: "adversely affect a team of investigators to the case and will do all possible to bring the perpetrators of this cowardly act to justice. EULEX condemns any violence against their members. "

It is the first member of the deadly violence victim, EULEX in Kosovo, since the mission was established in 2008, on the occasion of the proclamation of the independence of the country.

The incident occurs a few weeks before the November municipal elections, which are part of the agreement on normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia.
