Russia boosts military presence in the Arctic

The Russia reinforced military presence in the Arctic to patrol the Northern sea route, a strategic project which aims to be an alternative to traditional trade routes.

The Moscow project includes the reactivation of an airfield and a military base in the new Siberian archipelago in the Eastern Arctic, abandoned in the years 1990.
