Russian justice begins releasing members of Greenpeace

Monday three Russian activists were released and today were nine who received the good news.

The Brazilian activist and biologist Ana Paula Maciel is part of this first group upon payment of bail.

The environmentalist organisation's lawyer says: "we think there should be no criminal case in principle. But the Court does not consider it this way. The judge took custody decisions and we feel that any measure other than detention is appropriate ".

Several courts of St. Petersburg are reviewing detentions of 30 members of the crew of the Greenpeace ship at a time when approaching the two-month period of initial hopes, which expires on November 24.

So far, the judicial authorities had refused all requests for release on bail.
