World powers believe in a long-term solution to the nuclear Iran

Representatives of the 5 + 1 sat at the negotiating table to find an agreement on the Iranian nuclear program that allows the country was no longer seen as a threat and, at the same time, could be "awarded" with the lifting of some sanctions.

"After intensive negotiations we came to an agreement on a joint plan of action that defines an approach for achieving a long-term comprehensive solution," said Catherine Ashton, EU external policy.

Iran will see alleviated some economic sanctions but must stop enriching uranium up to five percent and to suspend the expansion of nuclear power. Yet the position of Iran, to defend their interests, is clear:

"It is important that all of us see this as an opportunity to end an unnecessary crisis and open new horizons based on respect for the rights of Iranians and end up with any doubts as to the exclusively peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear program," said Mohammad Javad Zarif, Iranian Foreign Minister.

The important thing is for the international community which has managed, somehow, the retreat by Iran and this moment is seen as a fresh look at the future.

Can be an "interim agreement" or just a framework for subsequent agreements and more substantial but, still, it's a historic moment and a breakthrough in the nuclear crisis that has lasted for a decade. Open up Windows of opportunity for both sides.
