Actress Joan Fontaine dies at the age of 96 years

Immortalized by some classic Hitchcock, was in fact in a film of the "master of suspense" of 1941 entitled "Suspicion" that the British won a Hollywood Academy Award for best actress. Is the only actress awarded an Academy Award for a film by Alfred Hitchcock.

Fontaine, whose Christian name was Joan de Beauvoir de Havilland, was born on October 22, 1917 in Tokyo, Japan. British parents, including actress Lillian Fontaine, was the sister of Olivia de Havviland, winner of two Oscars for best actress and known for participation in "...Gone with the wind "and" the adventures of Robin Hood ". Olivia, curiously, was also nominated for an Oscar for her sister won in 1942.

Joan, in turn, adopted the stage name Fontaine of the stepfather. She was named for three occasions for the Oscars, the last of which in 1943, for "Love also Dies" by Edmund Goulding, which premiered in Portugal only in 1947.

Joan Fontaine lived in Carmel-by-the-Sea, a coastal locality from California, where he died Sunday of natural causes. Had 96 years.
