Congolese Government regains control of State TV

The building had been occupied by about 70 armed men. The rebels also tried to occupy the airport of the capital, Kinshasa, which was the scene of exchanges of fire. There are also reports of clashes in the mining town of Lumumbashi, in the East of the country.

The rebels want to oust President Joseph Kabila. Violence rose from tom in recent days and the country seems to be again on the brink of civil war.

In Kinshasa, merchants closed their shops. The city is gripped by fear. Kabila is visiting the region of Katanga and in no danger.
