NSA reform: Obama looking for balance?

James Andrew Lewis, of the Center for strategic and international studies, says that Barack Obama is seeking a compromise between the growing debate about privacy and the measures necessary for the security of the country.

Lewis States that "one of the things that has changed is that he was a critic when I was in the Senate and now see some of the value [of these practices] and seeks a balance."

Bruce Riedel, of the Brookings Institute, the promise of greater transparency in the President can press other countries to do the same.

The former Obama adviser says he "would like to see other countries display a presidential document that establishes the principles by which they operate secret services, with the promise that they won't discriminate, nor collect data with the objective of promoting the corporate interests or stealing industrial secrets".
