Syria: UN Envoy expects no result "noun" Geneva negotiations

The fifth day, the two factions agreed that the Geneva Declaration will serve as a basis for dialogue, but have different interpretations about what that means.

Progress are minimal and endeavours are, according to the UN Special Envoy, to ensure that no one beats with the door.

"I'm not expecting to get anything substantive. I am very happy to continue talking, the ice is breaking, albeit very slowly. I hope the second session to be more structured and productive ", expect Lakhdar Brahimi

The spokesman for the National Coalition, Syria has said that the talks were a "positive step forward" but is necessary to reach a consensus soon.

'' We are committed to the process of finding a political solution to end the suffering in Syria but we need to find closure. Surely we're not going to stay here for months and months, talking without progress. There has to be progress "requires Louay al-Safi.

Representatives of the regime of Bashar al-Assad confirmed that are open to dialogue with the opposition and that this should be based on the international plan which foresees the creation of an interim Government "formed by mutual consensus," in order to put an end to the war.

The first round of talks in Geneva, ends Friday.
