Italy: new Government of Renzi forced to seduce the right

Matteo Renzi begins officially Tuesday to make contacts with a view to the formation of a new Government in Italy. One of the most eagerly awaited is the leader of the Democratic Party, the center-left, is obliged to do with Angelino Alfano, the leader of the New centre-right party (NCD). Only with the company of Alfano, Renzi could achieve the majority it needs in the Senate to govern and we assume, then, as the youngest Prime Minister in the history of the Republic of Italy.

The former right-hand man of Silvio Berlusconi has already made it known that you want to keep the folder of the Interior, which already owned with former Prime Minister Enrico Letta, who resigned on Friday. The leader of the NCD requires two more ministries for the Italian right.

The task, I know, it won't be easy, as, incidentally, visualises Curzio Maltese, well-known journalist of the daily "La Republica": "I think he (Renzi) will be able to create a new electoral law and cut the cost of politics. These are very popular reforms, but that do not change a comma to the living conditions of millions of Italian families. In the economy, I believe that Renzi will not be able to change anything as did nothing (Mario) Monti or Enrico Letta. With the exception, perhaps, of the Italian public debt control. "

The doubts raised by Curzio Maltese will meet skepticism from part of the Italians. Some didn't expect a lot of Renzi despite promises made, inter alia, a new labour law to be implemented in March. People expect changes, creation of employment and improvement in the standard of living.

On the sidelines of the will of the people, the truth is that until now Mayor of Florence has a tough nut to crack. The consultations to form the new Government only officially start this Tuesday and the deadline to be completed is two days. But informally, Renzi has started making calls over the weekend for the leadership of some ministries, including the finance, one of the most sensitive, with the Italian press to advance the chosen by the President of the Republic to lead the new Government will have heard a lot of "Nos". One of them, by Romano Prodi. On Friday, in spite of everything, it is expected that Matteo Renzi may present in the Senate the new Executive.
