Ukrainians choose Sunday the new President of the Republic

In Ukraine there are extraordinary presidential elections this Sunday, convened after the removal of President Viktor Ianukovich.

With the country plunged into armed conflict between Government forces and the separatists in the southeast of the country, the great unknown is how it's going to be the vote in the regions of Lugansk and Donetsk, self-proclaimed "popular independent republics".

"The people who came out of the East and the Crimea for the reasons we all know, was given the possibility of electoral authorities choose the place where they can exercise their right to vote," said Oleg Kupriiyenko, the Electoral Commission in Kiev.

To the separatist leaders, who claim to control the situation in most regions of Donetsk and Lugansk, elections called by the Kiev Government "is illegitimate" and arrange them in the "popular independent republics" is "illegal".

"We don't need these elections for nothing. We are not yet ready for elections and did not receive orders from Kiev, "said an inhabitant of the city of Donetsk.

Voting security will be ensured by 55 thousand cops. Twenty thousand volunteers, about a thousand observers from the Organization for security and cooperation in Europe and 5 thousand Ukrainian observers trained by the Council of Europe will monitor the electoral process.
