Center of Islamabad blocked to demand resignation of Sharif

The movement of defence blocked the Centre of the Pakistani capital, but was far short of that promised Imran Khan and Tahir ul-Qadri. The two opposition leaders predicted a "tsunami", referencing a million protesters, but the protest has focused only some tens of thousands of Pakistanis.

Qadri, a moderate religious leader installed several years ago in Canada, requires even the arrest of Sharif, who he accuses of electoral fraud and the deaths of 14 of his supporters.

The former cricket legend Imran Kahn promised, for its part, that the mobilisation will continue until the Prime Minister go to the demands of the protesters.

The two opposition leaders had gone to Lahore on Thursday, ahead of a large motorised procession to the capital.
