Israel and Hamas agree ceasefire durable

The information was put forward by Mahmoud Abbas, the President of the Palestinian Authority.

At a press conference Hamas confirmed the deal and said that the victorious war against Israel, "which started strong and finished strong."

Tel Aviv has not made any official announcement yet but an Israeli ministerial source, cited by the Italian news agency says the country has accepted the Egyptian proposal for a cease-fire in Gaza.

On the ground the fighting continued until the very last minute with Hamas spokesman saying the movement killed two Israeli soldiers in the last few hours.

The next few hours, weeks, months, are decisive to understand to what extent are the two sides engaged in this durable truce, after a war which cost the lives of over 2100 Palestinians and about 70 Israelis.
