Obama security officer resigns after intrusion attempt at the White House

Julia Pierson abandoned the position after having recognized gaps in the protection system, facing a Congressional Committee of inquiry on Tuesday.

At issue is the intrusion attempt recorded two weeks ago, when a veterno of the war in Iraq, armed with a knife, jumped the fence of the official residence of the President, penetrating one of the reserved rooms of the building.

Pierson will be replaced temporarily by former number two of the service, Joseph Clancy, working currently in the private sector.
