Russian space freighter arrives at the ISS after American rocket explosion

After the American rocket Antares exploded during takeoff, a Russian space freighter was a mission to resupply the international space station.

The explosion of Antares, the u.s.-based Orbital Sciences, is the first disaster since NASA decided to resort to private companies to carry cargo to the ISS.

The Vice President of the company, Frank Culbertson, says that "it's hard to lose a rocket like this, with all its cargo. But it's not as tragic as losing lives. Therefore, we are very pleased to be able to say that there hasn't been any wounded and security measures worked as supposed. All that was lost was stuff ".

The flight Tuesday was the third of eight charged by NASA for Orbital Sciences. The value of the rocket and destroyed material was valued at about 200 million dollars.

A few hours after the incident, the Russian Progress M-25 m took off from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, with two and a half tons of cargo in the holds, including essential fuel to maintain the ISS orbit and food, water and oxygen for the crew.

Shortly after the 1:0 pm this Wednesday, the Russian freighter successfully docked to the international space station.
