Italy: Police recover 1500 archaeological objects

18 people have been arrested in an investigation that scrutinized at least 43 individuals.

The total value of the objects around 2 and a half million euros.

"Although they are in the hands of these criminals, the works that here we see today are of various regions and we must return to the origin", says Dario Franceschini, Italian Minister of culture.

The successful operation happens after another on Wednesday, in which the authorities rescued 5 thousand artifacts hidden among tomatoes and asparagus in pickup trucks bound for Switzerland, a collection valued at 50 million euros.
