Pope Francis condemned "deviant forms of religion"

The Pontiff urged "religious leaders, politicians and intellectuals, especially Muslims who condemn" any fundamentalist and extremist interpretation of religion, intending to justify "violence.

Francisco recalled also the 132 students who died in December, at a school in Peshawar, in northwestern Pakistan, a Taliban attack.

The Pope asked the international community to join efforts against violence and for peace and expressed the hope that the Israeli and Palestinian leaders to resume negotiations to achieve peace and "the two-State solution", with "clearly established and internationally recognised borders".
