Security Council condemns attack on Presidential Palace in Yemen

After an extraordinary meeting, the UN body demanded an immediate ceasefire and a return to dialogue between the rebel huthis and the power.

The Chilean Ambassador to the UN noted that "members of the Security Council call on all parties in Yemen to resolve disagreements through dialogue, rejecting acts of violence to achieve political goals, and to refrain from provocations".

The huthis Shiite movement's fighters took control of the Presidential Palace, in Sana'a, and also attacked the residence of the head of State.

The information disclosed by the Yemeni television that authorities ordered the blocking of all accesses to the main city in the South of the country, Aden, did grow up rumors that the President may be there refugee.
