War crimes in Gaza: Israel calls on the "dismantling" of the ICC

The decision of the ICC, which constitutes a step prior to the opening of a formal inquiry, occurs after the Palestinians have formally acceded to the body, earlier this month, under the criticism of Israel.

The Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has condemned the decision of the ICC, considering it a "scandal", "after the attacks of Paris", and when, "the Israeli Government tries to defend its citizens from the actions of the Islamists of Hamas".

The Israeli Foreign Minister appealed, on the other hand, the "dismantling of the ICC".

The preliminary investigation is expected to focus on the context of the death of 2,200 Palestinians and Israelis during the 73 military operation in Gaza, which began last July.

The Palestinians, for their part, expressed his satisfaction with the decision of the ICC, as, "a way of ensuring peace in the territory", by judicial process, when Israeli-Palestinian negotiations are stalled.
