Climate: Geneva concessions can leave guys in Bonn

The meeting ended with the adoption of a text that will serve as a basis for the negotiations scheduled for the coming months that will culminate in Paris at the end of the year. The goal is to reach a universal legally binding agreement that can enter into force as from 2020.

The Convention's Secretary, Christiana Figueres acknowledges, however, that the fact that the text has passed from 38 to 86 pages can hinder negotiations scheduled for June. But remember that this is a formal document recognized by all countries and the first step so they can reach an understanding.

In this week's session, negotiators had aimed to reduce the negotiating plan approved at the Lima Conference, in December. However, and to ensure the support of all countries were made several concessions. The next round of negotiations is scheduled for June in Bonn.
