Truce in Eastern Ukraine have been "generally" observed

The ceasefire which came into effect at midnight, in the East of Ukraine, has been "generally observed," said the Ukrainian Government, despite some localized incidents. The most serious occurred shortly after the start of the truce when mortar shot struck a House and killed two civilians.

The Ukrainian Executive reported this morning, the only fatal occurrence:

"The violation happened in Lugansk region. The mortar attack was unleashed from the locality of Valentyn Nalyvaichenko Zolotoe "-said, head of the security services.

The most serious situation continues to be to Debaltseve where there are reports of new salvos of artillery early in the morning. A rebel chief said even the agency Reuters that as the location lies within its territory can continue to bomb it.

However in Donetsk, where nobody believes that the truce could last, the inhabitants took advantage of the silence of the guns to refuel.
