Pope asks Putin to respect agreements of Minsk

Vladimir Putin was received this Wednesday at the Vatican by Pope Francisco.

One of the topics discussed was the armed conflict in the East of Ukraine. The Pope asked the Russian President "a sincere effort in the search for peace". A statement issued after the meeting, which lasted about 50 minutes, stresses that both agreed on the need to retrieve the climate of dialogue with Ukraine and to implement the agreements of Minsk.

The Russian leader arrived at the Vatican with an hour delay. During the meeting, conversed in German.

The visit of Vladimir Putin to Italy began by meeting with Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, in the Universal Exposition in Milan.

An opportunity for the Russian President to disprove the isolation of Moscow, within the framework of the sanctions imposed by the European Union, and remember the Renzi, on behalf of the economic and political interests, Italy must maintain friendly relations with Russia.
