Mosque in Berlin investigated for links to jihadism

Germany, which has never been the scene of attacks from Islamic extremists, was the target of threats in the last month.

"We are looking for evidence, above all training material, but also documents that can give us an idea of how many people have been recruited, people are sent there, trained to do attacks, participating in violent attacks and pose a potential danger when they return," says Stefan Redlich, Chief of police of the German capital.

The police made no arrests, but was seen loading bags and computers inside the mosque. A woman wearing the full veil and two children were escorted by police out of the mosque, but were not detained.

German intelligence suspect that there are at least 600 jihadists who left Germany toward Syria.
