Turkey: authorities identify the author of the attack on Saturday in the Centre of Istanbul

The Turkish authorities have identified the responsible for the suicide bombing occurred Saturday in Istanbul.

According to the Turkish Interior Minister, Efkan Ala, the bomber's name was Mehmet Öztürk, had Turkish nationality and belonged to the extremist group Islamic State.

The Saturday attack took place in the Centre of Istanbul, in a commercial artery very visited by tourists.

In addition to the suicide bomber, three Israeli citizens and an Iranian were killed in the attack.

"According to the information I have been provided, this person is not part of the lists of individuals wanted by the police. So far we've arrested five people already ".

Following the attack, the fourth attack of its kind occurred this year, the Turkish authorities have decreed a curfew in seven provinces and in the city center of Sirnak.

The celebrations associated with the spring, planned for the day on March 21, were also canceled throughout the country. These celebrations are particularly important for the Kurdish community.
