Armenians remember the so-called "genocide" that Turkey does not recognize

The Armenian descendants claim the recognition of the massacre and want the international community to press Ankara to acknowledge the act as a crime against humanity.

This resident of Yerevan says: "we require Turkey's recognition of the Armenian genocide as a crime against mankind that our ancestors suffered. And require indmenizações to the Armenians ".

What happened between 1915 and 1917, during the first world war, the genocide is recognized by some 20 countries, including Argentina, Uruguay, France, Switzerland, Russia and the European Parliament but Turkey rejects the term "genocide".

Armenians claim up to 1.5 million people were killed in deportations and m ass killings carried out by the Ottoman Empire, forerunner of the modern Turkish State.
