Ukraine: Parliament chooses new Prime Minister

The spokesman for the Kiev Parliament was appointed by the Party President Petro Poroshenko and gained the support of the two largest parties in the country.

The appointment could mean the end of the political stalemate, which worsened with the resignation of Prime Minister Arseny Iatseniuk, on Sunday.

The resignation of Iatseniuk occurs at a time when the Government supported by the West tries to apply a program of political and financial reforms in order to get closer to the standards of the European Union.

Poroshenko and Groysman have supported publicly the IMF economic reform program and promised to fight corruption. The President is under threat of a vo te of impeachment in Parliament for having been cited in the case "Panama Papers". Poroshenko claims innocence.
