Espionage: EP wants to suspend u.s. access to global financial database

The proposal to suspend the so-called SWIFT agreement was approved by 280 votes in favour and 254 against, being that the European people's Party, the largest in the House, opposed the resolution.

MEPs want to ascertain whether, as advanced the international press, the NSA had access to more financial data than those prescribed in the fight against the financing of terrorism.

European Home Affairs Commissioner Cecilia Malmstrom said "take note" of the petition and that the Commission is already investigating the case.

The United States denies any wrongdoing, but the "Big Brother" of Washington continues to sour relations with the old continent.
