Russia reduces charges against Greenpeace activists

After being accused of piracy, the Group of activists is accused now of vandalism that carries a maximum sentence of 7 years in jail, as opposed to the maximum sentence of 15 years attributed to piracy. The Organization, however, claims innocence of the activists and demands his immediate release aq.

"It's not enough. First, our colleagues were accused of being terrorists, then were charged with piracy. Now are accused of vandalism. They are innocent of all these charges and should be freed immediately, "says Daniel Simons, Counselor of Greenpeace.

All activists, 30 in total, are held in the region of Murmansk in northern Russia.

The announcement of the Russian authorities takes place on the day that refused to participate in the inquest brought by the Dutch Government in the International Tribunal for the law of the Sea.
