French Ministers in Niger to repatriate hostages released

Thierry Dol, Daniel Larribe, Pierre Legrand and Marc Féret worked for the French company Areva uranium extraction when they were kidnapped in Arlit in northern Niger, in 2010, by elements of Al Qaeda of the Islamic Maghreb (AQMI), along with three other hostages: a French woman, the wife of Daniel Larribe, one Togolese and one Malagasy. The last three would be released on February 24 in the Niger territory.

A month later the AQMI came claim 90 million euros for the release of four French, a request that would eventually be refused by France.

In May of 2012 when it comes to power, Francois Hollande undertakes to take all efforts for the release of the hostages. However, and according to the French President, the war in Mali will postpone this dossier, now achieved.

However, the French Head of State does not forget that despite this good news, there are still seven Frenchmen abducted in the world, both in the Sahel, a Nigeria and four others in Syria.
