Germany: CDU and SPD launched formal discussions for the return of the "Grand Coalition"

The leaders of both parties agreed on Thursday the opening of formal discussions. The decision now has to be validated by the staffs of the CDU and the SPD. The negotiations could start next Wednesday.

Tough talks are expected. The creation of a minimum wage in the country was one of the election banners of the Social Democrats who refuse to join a Government if this measure is not implemented. Conservatives dislike the idea.

The number of German workers with salaries of two euros per hour has increased in recent years, in particular in the East of the country.
