Italy: demonstration against the austerity ends in clashes

The authorities had already foreseen this situation and strengthened the policing of the capital with more than 3,000 effectives. 12 people, responsible for disturbances, were detained.

During the afternoon, orderly, tens of thousands of people marched in the capital in protest against unemployment, the Government cuts and large construction projects that claim to be taking money out to social services.

On Friday had been detained by the Italian police, 14 people and seized several objects considered dangerous by the authorities.
