Lou Reed, a vanguarda do rock

Born in 1942, in New York, in a middle class family. Hated school. When I was a teenager his parents forced him to undergo electric shock to treat bisexuality. In the years 60 founded the "The Velvet Underground", a band that had as a producer the genius of pop art, Andy Warhol.

The sound of the Velvet is a mixture of childlike melodies, with a dry voice, devoid of emotion, as are examples of this Sunday Morning or Femme Fatale. The Velvet Underground launch just 4 albums but become one of the biggest cult bands.

But Lou Reed's fame came with the solo career. Recorded in England, the album with great songs like account Tansformer Heroine, Walk on the wilde side, Vicious and Perfect Day.

The last time he was in Portugal at the invitation of producer Paulo Branco, he exhibited his photographs and presented the documentary "Red Shirley", in the Estoril Film Festival in November 2010. The first concert of Lou Reed in Portugal was in 1980. The last was in July 2008, in the Campo Pequeno in Lisbon.

Married three times, the last one with the artist Laurie Anderson. Lou Reed always a very troubled personal life ... always in trouble with drugs and alcohol .... said of himself that he was just a realist.

In one of the last public appearances in London a few weeks ago, said: "there's only one thing that can really change the world: the real rock and roll. I believe, from the bottom of my heart that rock and roll can change everything and as I graduated at the University of Warhol, believe in the power of punk. Today I want to blow everything ... ".
