Morsi trial postponed to January

The trial of Mohamed Morsi was postponed to January. The deposed Egyptian President attended, this Monday, to justice, to the first day of a process where accounts for "inciting violence".

Along with 14 other members of the Muslim Brotherhood, formation to which the former head of State belongs, Morsi risks the death penalty if found guilty of incitement to murder and torture of protesters in December 2012, opposite the Presidential Palace Etihadeya.

Supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood denounced a "simulacrum" of process, designed to eradicate the confraternity of the country's political scene.

The process taking place under heavy security measures, was interrupted several times, before being adjourned for the day on January 8. Mohamed Morsi challenged the judges to present itself as the only head of State "legitimate" of Egypt and created chaos in court, to interrupt several times the audience to express slogans like "down with military regime."

The Islamist leader, democratically elected, was deposed by the military, the July 3, following huge demonstrations. Detained since then, partly uncertain, was now transferred to Tora prison in Cairo.
