Ukraine lives bigger demonstrations since 2004

The Ukraine lived tonight the biggest demonstrations since the Orange Revolution of 2004.

In Kiev, protesters involved in clashes with police after they tried to enter the headquarters of the Government.

20,000 people, according to police, 100,000 according to the demonstrators, joined in the country's capital, to support an association agreement with the European Union, after the volte-face of President Viktor Yanukovich, who resigned this agreement under pressure from Russia.

The demonstrators demanding that the agreement be signed at the European Summit scheduled for later this month in Vilnius, Lithuania.

One of the voices to join the demonstration was the former boxer and CHANGE party leader, Vitaly Klitchko.

"Our mission is to block the Government until he comes back with this disgraceful decision and pave the way for the European Union," said Arseniy Yatsenyuk, "fatherland" party.

On Thursday, the Government of Viktor Yanukovich caused surprise to go back on the decision to sign an association agreement with the European Union. Instead, the country prepares to join the Customs Union to join Russia and other former Soviet republics.
