Central African Republic: Started the disarmament of the rebels

The shooting began during a disarmament operation. Some rebels of the former Séléka group refused to hand over their weapons.

The weapons collection operation began on Monday and, although the army report that is going well, the French Foreign Minister, Laurent Fabius, recognizes some difficulties:

"The difficulty, it must be said, is that a portion of these militias, which we call ex-seleka, say me, stripped off his uniform and mingle with civilians. And must require their guns and it is difficult to recognize these individuals ".

In the North of Bangui, the French troops are not meeting any resistance. The rebels who refused to turn in their weapons were delivered to FOMAC, the force of Central Africa.

Since last week, 1600 French soldiers are in the Central African Republic. The purpose of the mission is, alongside the UN force that will be sent to the country, restore security and end the chaos that has reigned since the coup of last March.
