Glasgow: causes of accident generate first questions

Efforts to retrieve the bodies beneath the rubble of the Glasgow pub continued during the last night, at the same time that the first questions about the cause of the helicopter crash.

Several experts contend that the aircraft down, a Eurocopter EC135 T2, has a good safety record. But the company that rents helicopters to the police of Glasgow had several problems with this model last year. The Eurocopter is collaborating with the British authorities in the investigation of the accident.

However police have identified one of the fatalities, between customers of the bar. So far at least eight confirmed dead, three were occupants of the helicopter.

A firefighters ' spokesman praised the courage of people between patrons, passersby, neighbors and emergency crews who provided the first assistance to victims of the accident.

In the pub The Clutha River were about 120 people when the helicopter crashed on the roof. In addition to the fatalities, the accident made 32 injured, 14 of them in serious condition. Scotland celebrated yesterday the national party. The celebrations were cancelled in Glasgow and the flags were placed at half-mast throughout the country
