Ukraine: Reactions of protesters

In the center of the Ukrainian capital the opposition parties, which have joined together to call for early elections and participate in the protest, took the opportunity to make appeals for calm and asking the protesters to "not give in to provocations."

One of the teams of Euronews at the scene heard some of those present.

"This is not the plan of opposition, Ukrainian people's plan: Reinstall democracy in my country. The people ask for justice. In a first step we urge the Government of Ukraine to resign and we want early elections, "stated Arseniy Yatsenyuk, leader of the opposition party" Batkivshchyna ".

"He is my son. Today we fight for him that is to participate in the most important event of the Ukrainian history, "said a protester

"I participated in the orange revolution in 2004. Like many others, later I was disappointed with the revolution. During nine years politicians were me indifferent and last week did not participate in the demonstrations. After a peaceful demonstration have been suppressed to bastinado, I realized that I shouldn't continue oblivious because things could get worse, "concluded another protester.

This is the 11st day of protests that Ianukovich and the Government face after having been suspended the signing of a partnership agreement with the European Union and reinforced the approach to Russia. Opposition leaders called for a general strike.
