South Sudan: 500 killed and 16,000 refugees in three days of fighting

The Juba Government announced to have detained ten important political figures and ordered the capture of former Vice-President Riek Machar, accused of leading the lawsuit against the power.

Despite the advanced information by the United Nations, based on hospital officials, Defense Minister of South Sudan said that "tranquility has returned to the capital and the army has the situation under control".

In UN bases in Juba, the Ministry of information also stated that "there is no fighting," adding that "now, must come back home".

But, fearful and distrustful of the advanced information, about 16,000 people sought refuge in recent days in the United Nations complex. A number that, according to the UN, continues to increase.
