The Ukrainian Government will crack down on protesters

Despite protests, or because of them, most of the laws which hardens sanctions against protesters in Ukraine enter into force at 12:00 am on Wednesday.

The new legislation, enacted last week by President Viktor Yanukovych, was published today in the official journal. Submits the demonstrators to heavy fines and prison sentences that can reach 15 years.

The President made a statement to the country:

"I appeal to dialogue, for an appointment, to the calm in our dear country. I believe the Ukrainian people. I am confident about the wisdom of our people. And I am ready to serve the people and with good faith until my last breath, while people trust me. "

Far from calming the spirit, the announcement of the entry into force of the repressive laws keeps alive the demurrer on the streets and the violence threatens the stability of the country dangerously.

Viktor Yanukovych called for a compromise as police and protesters clashed again in the streets.

Three dozen people were arrested.

"We don't want war or any radical decisions, but our Government forces us to react. He's against the Ukrainian people. All my friends and family are supporting the protest, nobody wants victims. "

The Russia condemns support "indecent" by some European Governments to the Ukrainian opposition.
