Death of baby giraffe in Denmark creates wave of revolt

Continues the controversy around the Copenhagen Zoo that decided to kill a baby giraffe by considering that this didn't have a genetic heritage "interesting".

Social networks on the internet circulates a petition demanding the resignation of the Director of the Zoo. The Organization "Change", for the defence of animals, published on its website a message of repudiation to the situation, stating:

"It's absolutely shameful to kill a giraffe healthy and invite visitors, including children, to watch the giraffe to be skinned and served as food for other animals. That is sick and that message passes as regards the preservation of these animals for generations to come. "

The Zoo calls for euthanasia to the decision to kill the baby giraffe and, as can be read in a statement on its internet Web site, is based on the international laws to do so:

"The giraffes of the Copenhagen Zoo are part of an international breeding programme which aims to ensure a healthy population of giraffes in zoos in Europe. This is done, constantly, for (...) prevent inbreeding ".

Social networks for who goes further and make threats of reprisals. The story of the baby giraffe who died for be like so many others, ran the world and has become a cause.
