Obama visit Colosseum of Rome after meeting Pope and Renzi

Barack Obama concluded in the Coliseum of Rome a visit to Italy during which he met with the youngest Prime Minister in the country's history and the first Pope from South America.

The two-hour visit to the Amphitheatre of the Roman Colosseum was surrounded by impressive security measures.

Obama hailed the "energy" and "vision" of the Italian Prime Minister in 39 years, Matteo Renzi, after a meeting where both spoke about the economy, while Italy prepares to assume the Presidency of the European Union, and also the crisis in Ukraine.

The US President was also received at the Vatican by Pope Francisco. A relaxed meeting, during which the Supreme Pontiff didn't miss the opportunity to show concern for the reform of the u.s. health care system which, he said, does not respect the freedom of conscience of the faithful, particularly in terms of contraception.

Obama's visit also prompted several demonstrations in the Italian capital, notably to denounce the controversial program of wiretapping u.s. intelligence, interestingly, the same day that the President submitted to Congress the plan to put an end to the massive accumulation of data by the National Security Agency.
